What is Sahalie?

A private ski club forty-five minutes from Seattle where kids can learn how to ski with friends, and the family has a place to stay with other families and enjoy the weekend in the mountains.  We have two private rope tows on gentle slopes, which are perfect for learning.  We have dormitory style sleeping arrangements (bunks in Girl's Dorm, Boy's Dorm, Family Dorm and Adult's Dorm) which can accommodate approximately 150 people.  One big benefit is storage; assigned lockers to store sleeping bags, food, skis equipment and other personal items.  There are bathrooms with showers and places to dry wet ski clothes.  The club also offers separate entertainment rooms for each age group:  Tots Room, Kids Room, Pre-Teens Room, Junior Room and Senior Room.  Our large commercial kitchen can handle a big crowd.  The house managers prepare dinner for everybody on Saturday night and members prepare their own meals at other times.  The lodge is basically set up so that all you have to do is bring some essentials and you’ll be ready to ski and enjoy the outdoors all weekend.

What Sahalie Isn't...

It's not the Hilton and we don't have maid service.  It's not a youth hostel or place for a single overnight stay.  It's a rustic lodge for members and their guests only, with dormitory sleeping in bunks in your sleeping bag. All members (including kids) are required to pitch in and help clean and maintain the lodge. That keeps it affordable and also keeps out people just looking for a hotel. We are more like a family home-away-from-home. The kids have about 80 parents and the parents have about 40 kids. What ties us together is our willingness to work together to maintain what we have…a love for skiing and the outdoors and the privilege of sharing it with friends.

How Much Does It Cost?

Whatever it takes to keep the lodge open. We take the operating expenses and divide the cost by the number of members to set the dues. The more the members help to maintain and upgrade the lodge, the less our operating expenses and dues will be. The dues per year can vary between $350-500 per adult and $150-$175 per child over five. This is still a great value when you consider that for less than the cost of a weekend or two at a destination ski resort, your family can enjoy a season of fourteen fun-filled ski weekends at a private ski lodge.

Considering Joining?

We're currently accepting applications for new membership.  If you are interested in learning more, contact our Membership Chairman Cindy Clark.  If, after talking to Cindy and understanding the rules and membership requirements, you want to apply for membership, the procedure is that you pay a $50 non-refundable prospective member fee and come up to the lodge for one year and work at work parties just as if you were a member.  If you like your prospective year (and we like you), and perform your obligations, then you can be voted in by the general membership.  Note:  Sahalie Ski Club is a non-discriminatory club and does not reject membership due to race, creed, religious preference, marital status, sexual orientation or anything other than enjoying the outdoors, camaraderie with others and helping to build and maintain the lodge and club.  Sahalie Ski Club welcomes and promotes diversity.  You're welcome at any time to stop by on a weekend and take a tour of the lodge and check it out to see if it might be something you're interested in.  Just go in the lodge, ask to see one of the "house managers on duty" and request a tour. They'll be glad to show you around. The lodge is open every Friday night through Sunday afternoon (3pm) each weekend from January 1st through April 1st. Come for a tour and if it appeals to you, Cindy can give you more information on how to join.
